Respect : So little yet so valuable. It should be given without asking.  Here is a typical AeAfrican poem from a woman wRrwtrho wants nothing more than to be respected.  What am I to say From a colored woman's prospective today With my Brown skin Dark eyes Thrifty dreams African American eyes Feels like a hot breeze from Congo Blowing my way With echoes from the mountains And whispers Whispers Manipulating my soul To dance and sing And listen to the drummers Listen Shhhhhhhhhhh They are speaking to me Can't you hear? Sending a message out to us sista's Us women of color Us women of glory And eternal everlasting My ancestors look at us in discuss With our chemical treated hair Body exposed like we don't care And my back pressed up against the wall With my belly sticking out And my tears that stained my cheek And my intelligence turned weak Us colored women today, yes us colored women today What's next, they cut off the welfare checks

New peom: Dream lover

Image
She wakes every morning with a smile on her face. She felt his love in her sleep. Dreamed of his embrace. Although she's never met his body. His heart she does feel. Anytime she has loved before. Has never felt so real. There is no explanation for it. Not one has she yet found. But OMG the feeling she gets when he is around. Although it may end tomorrow. The memory will not fade. For in her heart a life long friend. She feels that she has made. She hopes it last forever. She prays that they do meet. She dreams of the day her online love. sweeps her off her feet. I exist now dreaming in reality, shades of deep reds and grays, Evolving at the speed of light As my third eye sees all, I bring my fingers to my lips and time stops I taste you. I ponder you and wallow in the memory of your scent and way. How you called me baby The way you made me laugh The way you touched my heart and made me believe Unable to stop, it seems too wonderful, but

New poem: I knew you well

Image
I knew your dreams Because we used to talk For hours at a time. I knew your friendship Because you were always there When I needed your comfort. I knew your pain Because you trusted me enough To share your past with me. I knew your fears Because you helped me To see that mine were the same. I knew what was important to you Because you were always So honest with me. I knew your goals Because I felt the enthusiasm In your words when you talked of them. I knew your guidance Because you patiently explained The things I didn't understand. I knew your heart Because I saw right into it And felt it a part of my own. I knew your honor Because you let me go When I fell in love with you. And I knew your love Because you wouldn't let me dream of us together.
